Job Description:

As Head Pastry Chef, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the pastry department within our hotel. From creating innovative and high-quality pastry dishes to managing a team, you will ensure that every product meets the high standards of quality and presentation our guests expect. You will work closely with the Executive Chef and other kitchen teams to maintain smooth operations, manage inventory, and train junior pastry chefs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead, manage, and motivate the pastry team to deliver exceptional pastry products consistently.
• Create and design innovative and seasonal pastry menus that align with the hotel’s culinary vision and guests’ expectations.
• Ensure all pastries, desserts, and bakery items meet the highest quality standards, both in taste and presentation.
• Oversee daily production and inventory management of the pastry section.
• Manage food costs, portion control, and waste reduction in the pastry department.
• Monitor hygiene and health & safety standards in accordance with hotel policies and legal regulations.
• Train, develop, and mentor junior pastry chefs, fostering a supportive and educational environment.
• Collaborate with the Executive Chef and other kitchen departments to ensure smooth service and a cohesive menu offering.
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends and continuously introduce fresh, creative ideas to the pastry department.

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a Pastry Chef, with at least 3-5 years in a senior pastry role, ideally within a hotel or high-end restaurant environment.
• Strong leadership skills with experience managing and motivating a team.
• A passion for pastry and a creative, innovative approach to designing new menu items.
• Extensive knowledge of pastry techniques, ingredients, and presentation.
• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• High standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and safety.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Culinary qualification or relevant professional training is preferred.
